  • The Power Of Our Words (Accompanying Song: Words By Hawk Nelson)

    Recently my family has been watching a teaching on Words by Robert Morris. During the teaching he said something about man and our words that has stuck with me since I heard it, he said that God created the whole world with His words and man is created in God’s image and God intended for us to be without sin, but when sin entered the world we were created and so man’s words

    Proverbs 18:20,21
    “20From the fruit of their mouth a person’s stomach is filled;
    with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied.
    21 The tongue has the power of life and death,
    and those who love it will eat its fruit.”

    The Power Of Our Words
    We’ve heard so many times that our words are powerful, but how often do we think about what we say ? It seems that the number of times we hear about the power of our words we just as equally overlook it. We’ve all said things we didn’t mean, we’ve all unintentionally hurt someones feelings, and we’ve all said something before considering the affects it would have on someone else and on ourselves. Recently my family and I have been watching a series of teachings on the power of words by Robert Morris. I’ve really learned a lot about the powerof my words. One thing that really stuck with me was when he talked about God creating the world with words. Man was created by God with words and God made us in His image. When God created us in His own image He gave us the power to speak life. Man being without sin spoke things that were pleasing to God, there was no hurtful speech coming from man’s lips. Just as God spoke life, man was created to speak life (man cannot speak a tree into existence, but we can build up our brother’s and sister’s in Christ with our words) or God’s Words, but when sin entered the world man and his tongue became corrupt and so instead of using words to speak life we speak death and tear down. Our words have the power to hurt or heal but in order to speak life man must surrender his tongue to God, to pray for self control in our speech, for help to speak God’s Word instead of our own. We must always consider what our words can do to others and what our words can do to ourselves.

    The Power Of Our Words In Scripture (God’s Words and Man’s Words)
    The power of our words is revealed in Proverbs 18:20,21 “From the fruit of their mouth a person’s stomach is filled;with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied.The tongue has the power of life and death,and those who love it will eat its fruit.” also in Romans 10:8,9 “But what does it say? ‘The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,’ that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” In order to be saved we must confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord, the Word is God and when we speak the Word with our mouths we speak life. The devil doesn’t want us to speak the Word, he wants us to speak death, lies, and curses over ourselves and other people. When we speak our own words and not God’s we get ourselves into trouble. This statement leads me into another thing Robert Morris said about words. He said “What is a word worth ? Well, I don’t know if I could give you an exact value on each word, but I will tell you this. A word is so valuable God is recording every single one for judgment day. “In Matthew 12: 36 it says “But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken.”

    Where does the problem start ?
    In Luke 6:45 it says “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” Everything we say and don’t say are important. A man’s problem with words starts in his heart. It is only through Jesus that we can be made new, have a renewed heart, a renewed mind and in turn have a renewed tongue. We must pray for a renewed heart and a tongue that is pleasing to God daily.

  • Salvation/Our Identity In Jesus/Who We Are In Jesus (Accompanying Song: Born Again By Third Day)

    Genesis 1:26-27
    “26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

    27 So God created mankind in his own image,
    in the image of God he created them;
    male and female he created them.”

    Isaiah 49:15-16

    “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast
    and have no compassion on the child she has borne?
    Though she may forget,
    I will not forget you!
    16 See, I have engraved you on the palms of My hands;
    your walls are ever before me.

    Jeremiah 29:11(NIV)
    “11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

    2 Corinthians 5:17(NKJV)
    “17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

    Knowing that God created man and breathed the life giving breath into him, knowing the life of each one before the foundation of the earth, also knowing that He loves man so much that He sent His Only Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. That He will never forget us, leave us, or forsake us. And that He has a plan for each and every one of our lives. Why would we ever seek our identity in anything else ? Why would we ever want to try and find it anywhere else when God knows everything about a man’s life, a man’s yesterday, today, and every tomorrow until that man’s last breath. Trust that God has a plan for you today and read His Word and what He says about who you are in Jesus. Our identity in Jesus is better than anything we can ever imagine. Jesus died on the cross to pay the debt that we owed for our sins. The penalty of sin is death and that is why Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again on the third day. Jesus was the only one who could be the sacrifice for our sins because He was perfect and without sin, by dying on the cross Jesus took our place and because Jesus was without sin His sacrifice was acceptable to God. By rising again on the Third Day Jesus conquered death and the grave giving us the victory. In Jesus we have the victory to overcome just as He did. When we make Jesus our everything, we become empowered by the Holy Spirit to live the life God has for us. The life that is better than anything man could ever live or be on his own. Life is hard, why just exist when God can give you life in Christ Jesus ? To live a life for God in Christ Jesus is to truely live today and for all of eternity. To just go through each day living for oneself is to just exist. If you have not given your life to Jesus, it is not to late. God is calling out to you because He loves you and wants you to be with Him for eternity, because he has great plans for your life. God’s hand is stretched out to you in this moment, take it you won’t regret it. All you have to do is to speak this prayer and believe with all of your heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

    Dear God,
    I come before you asking for Your forgiveness. I know that I am a sinner in need of a Saviour and with all of my heart I believe that Jesus is the Saviour I need and that He is the only One who can save me. I ask that Jesus would come into my heart and be My Lord and Saviour. I surrender everything I am, my life, my heart, and my love to You today. Please help me to live the life you have for me and to grow each day at a time.
    In Jesus Name I Pray Amen.

    If you just said that prayer you are saved by the Precious Blood of Jesus. A good thing to do would be to purchase a Bible and to find a local church in your area. God has a great life for you, but it’s up to you to persue a relationship with Him so He can guide you in the way you should go. I pray that God gives you strength and that He would reveal Himself to you as you continue to seek Him going into your new future. Jeremiah 29:11-14 says:

    “11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity.”

    This is a promise from God and He will be faithful to fullfil it.

    “The only way to find who we are is to look to Jesus, because in Him is where our identity is found.”
    – Christine Sawyer

  • Generations/Generational Curses (Accompanying Song: Future Generations By 4Him)

    Generations, God has brought me back to this topic so many times. He’s shown me how one choice can change the course of generations, for good or for bad. Our decisions are not just our own. I’ve heard many people say “It’s my life I can do what I want” but on the contrary our lives touch others live’s and can affect not only ourselves but all of those people. In Exodus 20:5 it says “You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.” it tells us the sins of the father affect up to the fourth generation, but this bad decision can go even farther then that. Jesus can deliver any generation who calls out to Him, but up to the fourth generation without repentence will see the affects of the sin.

    I’ve seen many children suffer from poor decisions their parents made, and growing they did the same thing because that’s the legacy that was passed down to them. A big example of this is alcoholism. The enemy only has to get one person hooked to destroy generations afterwards and it is only through Jesus that such bondages and chains can be broken. What we do today changes everything, especially our walk with God and our obedience to Him.

    Going back to Exodus 20:6 it also tells us that the father who serves God and keeps His commandments will be loved and blessed for a thousand generations. God promises to bless generations of the fathers who love, obey, and serve Him. In Proverbs 22:6 it says to build your children up in the Lord so that when they grow up they won’t depart from it. When we faithfully serve God we not only fulfill God’s will for our lives but we set an example for our children, and when we do this we give them all of the hope and opportunities they can to be everything God called them to be. When we don’t serve God we cause ourselves and generations to be far from all that they could be in God, we cause them to grow up in troubles they never should have had, all because we chose to do the wrong things.

    Father God, We praise You and thank You for Who You are and all that You do. Father God we ask that You would help us to stand strong in our relationship with You and that not only would we live a life that is pleasing to You but also that future generations would as well. Help us Father God to be a light in this world of darkness. Help us to seek You in every area of our lives so that we may make wise decisions and we ask that Father God You would guide us every step that we take. We ask that You would protect our children and our children’s children and that they would follow You and that they would have protection in You and that they would prosper. Help us Father God to be the one to make a difference.And that all that we say and do would reflect You. Changing not just those close to us but those who are not as well. Give us strength and courage to walk in Your ways Father God and that we would have a heart that is after You. In Jesus’ Mighty Name We Pray Amen.

  • Forgiveness/Excerpt From Lady In Waiting By Jackie Kendall and Debby Jones (Accompanying Song: Forgiveness By Toby Mac ft. Lecrae)

    “Agree with God that you have sinned and leave the sin before Him. Then guard yourself from entering into that sin pattern again. Learn a valuable lesson, but do not continue to beat yourself with condemnation. Jesus paid for your sins at Calvary. Do not continue to allow yourself or the enemy to defeat you with remembering a sin once you have confessed it to God and those you have offended. There may be consequences of your sin, but you do not have to live with the guilt of it. Even though you have been freed from guilt by confession, do not use it as an opportunity to continue in sin or to leave yourself open for temptation. Continue to choose freedom over sin’s mastery. Lay aside every encumbrance and the sin that so easily entangles you and run with endurance the race set before you (Heb. 12:1). How ? Fix your eyes on Jesus (not your sin, the past, or even yourself). Jesus is the Author and Perfector of your faith (see Heb. 12:2) There is one last response that brings complete freedom . You must forgive and forget the sins of those who sinned against you. Jesus is very clear in Mattew 5:21-24 about what to do with anger toward a brother. But how do you do it ? First choose to forgive them in your heart and then God will help you work through the emotions that remain. You will not be free of the hurt if you harbor bitterness. A quick way to ruin a beautiful complexion is to hold on to an unforgiving, bitter attitude.”

    An exerpt from “Lady In Waiting: Becoming God’s Best While Waiting For Mr Right” By: Jackie Kendall & Debby Jones

    This quote goes for any sin that you have done, God forgives you and He wants you to know that. If someone has sinned against you, you need to forgive them it is unhealthy to harbor anger against someone. We have all sinned and all fallen short but Jesus died on the cross for our sins so that we can be saved. So don’t let the devil fill you with condemnation, that’s not his place. God forgives you and the devil has no power over it.

    John 8:36
    So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

  • Isaiah 40:28b-31 Trust In The Lord/He Will Give You Rest (Accompanying Song: Rest By Beckah Shae)

    Isaiah 40:28b-31 (NIV)
    The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
    He will not grow tired or weary,
    and his understanding no one can fathom.
    29 He gives strength to the weary
    and increases the power of the weak.
    30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;
    31 but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
    They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint.

    Today trust in these Words, trust in this promise. Trust that God will give you rest and strengthen you. No matter what you are struggling with or going through God is with you and if you trust in Him He will give you rest, He will give you strength. God is not blind to your troubles nor is He deaf to your cries. He sees you, He hears you, and He is with you. God promises that He will never leave you nor forsake you (in good times and bad God is with you). Trust Him to bring you through this time in your life and that when He brings you through you will be stronger. You will be better able to help others. For it is in times of struggle that we learn to depend on God and it is in the victories that He gives us through Jesus that we can give testimony and bare witness to what He has done for us.

  • The Presence Of God (Accompanying Song: In Your Presence By Beckah Shae)

    Psalm 16:5-11
    5Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup;
    you make my lot secure.
    6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
    surely I have a delightful inheritance.
    7 I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;
    even at night my heart instructs me.
    8 I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
    With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
    9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
    my body also will rest secure,
    10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
    nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
    11 You make known to me the path of life;
    you will fill me with joy in your presence,
    with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

    In the presence of God all of the things that are not of God must leave. In God’s presence there is love, perfect peace, mercy, forgiveness, healing, instruction, security, and there is rest. God wants us to know just like a child comes to his earthly father with his joys, sorrows, concerns, etc. we can come to Him (our Heavenly Father) with everything. God wants to hear from you, He wants to talk to you and He wants you to talk to Him. To build a relationship there has to be communication, God already knows but He wants to hear from you. You’ll find that you’ll draw closer to God when you talk to Him and allow Him to talk to you. In the presence of God there is rest from the burdens that we attempt to carry, the ones we so stubbornly hold onto that we need to hand over to God.

  • Disqualified To Qualified/ Redeemed, Forgiven, Called (Accompanying Song: Not Guilty By Mandisa)

    It is both amazing and humbling to me to think that God can take a disqualified person like me and make me qualified in His Son Jesus to preach His Love to the world. Everyday He is making me new and qualifying me to teach about different things. For example forgiveness. Sometimes I struggle in this area, but God continues to help me grow in this area qualifying me to share how His power helps me to overcome any unforgiveness in my heart.
    God never owed me anything, in fact I owed Him. God knew I couldn’t pay my debt so He paid it for me and He gave me everything. All I want is to serve Him all the days of my life.

    In my walk with God the enemy constantly tries to make me feel disqualified because of my sins, he tries to make me feel like I’m not worthy of God’s calling for my life. But everytime the enemy tries to make me feel this way I am reminded by God that I am His and that in Jesus I am qualified. I was recently in a time like this and God reminded me that my best to Him is as filthy rags because of my sin, so even if I did everything I could to do right on my own it still wouldn’t be enough. That it is only in Jesus that I am forgiven and God has the authority to forgive me and so if He says I am forgiven then I am forgiven and nothing can change that. The enemy has no place to tell me I am unforgiven, he doesn’t have the authority in the first place because I belong to God in Christ Jesus.

    So today if you are feeling unworthy, disqualified, or unforgiven I want to pray with you because God wants you to know that He loves you and that in Jesus you are forgiven of any sins. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done, if you are in Christ you are made new and today is a new day. God has a calling for your life and He will prepare you for it, just trust Him. In Jesus you are worthy, you are qualified, and you are forgiven.

    Father God, we praise You and thank you for Your amazing Love. We thank You for sending Jesus to die on the cross for our sins and pay the debt we could not pay. Father God, we ask that You would forgive us for our sins and that You would help us to be more like Jesus. We ask that you would prepare our hearts for the calling You have on each and everyone of our lives and that You would brings us to where You want us to be. Father God we ask for Your Love to shine through us so that others can see You and that You give us the courage to share Your Word with others. I pray that all those who hear Your Word Father God would be touched by Your Holy Spirit and that they would find healing and rest in Your Loving arms. In Jesus Name I pray Amen

  • Showing Jesus’ Love/Giving All Year Round (Accompanying Song: My Own Little World By Matthew West)

    Every year around Christmas time we stop thinking only of ourselves and take the time to give, to love, to hope. I’ve been told by someone very close to me that “Although we may not think about it, what changes at Christmas time that is different throughout the year is that we not only give but we focus all of our attention on Jesus. We focus on Jesus, on giving, on helping others who need it. Our attention is no longer on ourselves but as it should be showing the love of Jesus and thinking of others before ourselves.”

    At Christmas time we focus on Jesus (all of our time and attention is on God), we worship Him through Christmas songs (about the birth of Jesus and His Holiness), we think of others before ourselves(giving gifts to others and truly thinking about who they are as a person and what we know about them), we have generous hearts (wanting to give and seeing the joy on the persons’ face is thanks enough, not expecting anything in return), and we go the extra mile to show love to others(volunteering at food drives, donating jackets, baking meals at soup kitchens etc.). We don’t realize the impact we are making at Christmastime. Christmastime shows us how much better our lives, our attitudes, and our impact can be if we would focus on Jesus and following His commands. What would it be like if we lived like this all year round ? Think about all of the opportunities we miss to show Jesus’ love to others because we are not focused on Him.

    So this year after Christmas is over and the new year comes I challenge you to focus on Jesus and your relationship with Him, what He has done for you, give to those in need not just in things but in time and by showing you care. Even if you feel like you have nothing to offer give what you have (sharing the love of Jesus, friendship, taking time to listen to someone who needs to know they are heard, helping someone with a task or chore, etc.) It’s the little things that we say and do that may not seem like much, that mean the world to someone else.

  • Our King Has Won ! (Accompanying Song: Fight Forever By Anthem Lights)

    As a Christian the devil is going to try and get you off track over and over again. As a Christian he has already lost you for eternity and since he can’t kill you he will try to bring you into a place where you are not effective for God or try to make you feel separated from God by making you feel trapped by temptations and sins. It’s a day to day battle that we are faced with and with everyday it’s easy to look at the natural situations in our lives and forget that Our God already won the war through Our Lord Jesus Christ. We must remember that we are covered by the blood of Jesus and that the devil has no place in our lives. In fact how dare he try to come against one of God’s children. The devil is defeated and he is a liar, do not believe him when he tells you that you are a defeated, worthless, person that God could never forgive, he is trying to pull you back under the judgment that bound you before you were saved, the place where he is eternally bound for eternal judgement. We are so valuable to God that He sent His only Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins, taking our punishment on Himself, setting us free from condemnation, cleansing us from our sins, and putting us under His grace so that we can live with Him in Heaven for eternity. Our God and King has won the war and so we must never give up, resting in the victory that is given us through Our Lord Jesus Christ. If you are fighting a battle right now God wants you to know that He has won the war and although the battle is tough He is with you and He is your strength. Don’t give up, remember His promises, pray, hope, and trust Him to bring you into the victory. A war and the small battles that follow are no match for Our God !
