1 Peter 1:3-9
Praise to God for a Living Hope
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
“It is not until we are hopeless that we can see hope” What ??? It’s true, when everything is going great we don’t tend to see the hope that we have or we at least take it for granted. It’s not until we come to a place of hopelessness do we see the power of the hope we have. This revelation came in one of the biggest trials my family has ever faced, God gave my dad the revelation that “In hopeless there is still hope (HOPEless).” Just because we feel hopeless does not mean that there is an absence of hope, it just means we don’t feel it because we are blind sided by our situation. If we are in Jesus we always have hope even in the darkest times. God’s children are never without hope. We will suffer through trials and troubles, Jesus told us that, but He also told us not to fear because He overcame those trials. That is our hope, our hope is in Jesus, it is in Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and rising on the third day. We have the victory because of Jesus and that is not only our greatest hope but it is our only hope. Without God we have no hope, but through Jesus we have a hope that never fails.
God is our only Hope yesterday, today, and forever.
